How to convert HEIC to JPG
- Leave the limit on No limit for a full-quality JPG, or pick a limit if a form needs one.
- Add your .heic photo. The first time, ReadyFile loads HEIC support (about 780 KB, only once).
- Check the ticks, then save the JPG.
Why nothing opens your HEIC file
iPhones save photos as HEIC to use less storage. Apple devices open them without trouble, so the problem only shows up when the photo leaves one: emailed to a Windows PC, sent as a document on WhatsApp, or copied off a Mac. Most job, exam and visa forms accept only JPG, and some reject HEIC even when you rename the file. Renaming doesn’t change the format. Converting does.
Need it under a size limit?
Forms often set a maximum, such as 200 KB. Pick that limit above instead of No limit and ReadyFile converts and compresses in one step, at the best quality that fits. For exact pixels as well, such as a passport-style photo, use a photo tool with that form’s preset.
Your photo stays private
Personal photos are exactly what you shouldn’t hand to an unknown server. ReadyFile does the conversion on your device and the saved JPG doesn’t carry your location. Once HEIC support has loaded, it even works with your internet turned off.
Questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser, on your own phone or computer. Many converters send your photos to their servers; ReadyFile never sees them.
Why can't Windows open my HEIC photo?
HEIC uses a video codec (HEVC) that Windows doesn't include by default. Microsoft sells an extension for it in the Microsoft Store. Converting to JPG is free and works everywhere.
Will the JPG lose quality?
Not that you can see. With "No limit" we save at quality 92 and keep the full size. The JPG is usually bigger than the HEIC, because JPG is an older, less efficient format.
Is the location removed?
Yes. The new JPG doesn't carry the original photo's details, such as GPS location, camera model or the date it was taken. That's safer when you send it to a form or a stranger.
What about Live Photos?
You get the main still photo. The short video part isn't included.
Can I convert several photos at once?
Yes. Pick or drop up to 30 photos together and save them all as JPGs in one ZIP. Each takes a second or two once HEIC support has loaded.
How do I stop my iPhone saving HEIC?
Go to Settings, Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos you've already taken stay HEIC.
