How we check form specs
A tool is only as good as the rule behind it. Here is where our sizes come from and how we keep them current.

What each label means
We confirmed the size from an official source: a government website, an exam body's notice or an embassy page. The source is linked next to the spec.
The size is widely used but we could not confirm it from an official source, or it changes between notices. Compare it with your own notice before you upload.
The last date someone on our side opened the source and compared it with the preset.
Where sizes come from, in order of trust
- Official sources. The exam body's vacancy notice, the government department's website, or the embassy's photo rules.
- Official portals. The limits the upload form itself states or enforces.
- Trusted secondary sources. Published guides and notices shared by candidates, used only until an official source is found, and always labelled "Check your notice".
How we keep them current
- We re-check our most used presets every month.
- We check exam and visa presets again before each application season.
- When a source changes, we update the preset and its "checked" date the same day we find out.
- We never invent a size. If we can't find a rule, we don't add the preset until we can.
How we count file size
Some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, others as 1,024. We use the stricter reading each way: a maximum counts 1,000 bytes per KB and a minimum counts 1,024, so your file passes either. We show the real size to one decimal place before you save.
